over-the-clouds-my-generoso-yuri-catania-2021
Over The Clouds | My Generoso | Yuri Catania, 2021

Edition of 5 by Yuri Catania from the collection My Generoso, 2021. Fine art print, 60 × 90 cm, walnut floater frame, hand-signed, with certificate of authenticity.

Each print is made to order in the artist's studio in Rovio and delivered within 2 weeks of order confirmation.

Over the Clouds catches the summit of Monte Generoso at the moment when the fog opens and lets the Fiore di Pietra surface, the building designed by the architect Mario Botta that crowns the peak at 1704 metres. The mountain emerges from the white like a sculpted profile, suspended between the dark rock and the sky that surrounds it.

The work belongs to the My Generoso collection and grows out of a daily habit. Yuri Catania lives in Rovio, at the foot of Monte Generoso, in Canton Ticino, and from his studio he looks every day at that mountain that dominates the surrounding landscape and that, from the first day he chose to live in that house, has been a great source of attraction for him.

Here photography becomes architecture of the landscape: the Fiore di Pietra, with its corolla-shaped geometry, settles on the crest like a construction born from the mountain itself. The black and white and the haze rising from the slope turn the scene into a rarefied vision, where the work of man and the power of nature meet at the highest point of the Generoso. Hence the title, Over the Clouds.

The viewpoint is the privileged one enjoyed by CasaGalleria and Catania's atelier, facing the summit directly: the same daily gaze from which the whole collection comes to life.

As in the rest of the collection, contemplating the mountain becomes a moment of creation for the artist: My Generoso records its changes of light, season and mood, like a portrait of the same subject repeated over time.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0976/6007/6356/files/fronte_ffac9ee6-9591-4925-bd40-fdb9366b8c10.jpg?v=1788040226
