over-the-top-my-generoso-yuri-catania-2021
Over The Tops | My Generoso | Yuri Catania, 2021

Edition of 5 by Yuri Catania from the collection My Generoso, 2021. Fine art print, 100 × 140 cm, acrylic glass box frame, hand-signed, with certificate of authenticity.

Each print is made to order in the artist's studio in Rovio and delivered within 2 weeks of order confirmation.

The snow-covered crests of the Generoso emerge in a band of light between the dark woods of the slope and a sky heavy with clouds, which swell and break apart above the peaks like steam. The snow sculpts every ledge and every rock face, while below the woods remain in shadow. The title looks beyond the summits: the sky, with its movement, is the true subject, and the mountain the threshold from which to observe it. The black and white makes the scene dramatic and suspended, between the stillness of the rock and the agitation of the clouds.

The work belongs to the My Generoso collection and grows out of a daily habit. Yuri Catania lives in Rovio, at the foot of Monte Generoso, in Canton Ticino, and from his studio he looks every day at that mountain that dominates the surrounding landscape and that, from the first day he chose to live in that house, has been a great source of attraction for him.

The viewpoint is the privileged one enjoyed by CasaGalleria and Catania's atelier, facing the summit directly: the same daily gaze from which the whole collection comes to life.

As in the rest of the collection, contemplating the mountain becomes a moment of creation for the artist: My Generoso records its changes of light, season and mood, like a portrait of the same subject repeated over time.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0976/6007/6356/files/fronte_bc39aaa3-11b3-494d-a606-14bab5522256.jpg?v=1788040226
