It's time to go to photo festivals. Here we are at the 30th edition of SI FEST, the photography festival in the charming Savignano sul Rubicone, the heart of Romagna. Dates: 10.11.12 - 18.19 - 25.26 September 2021.
The Creative Director Denis Curti of STILL Fotografia has curated an interesting program entitled “I Domani della Fotografia” which features great International and Italian authors.
Arno Rafael Minkkinen opens the scene with “Same but different ”at Palazzo Martuzzi in corso Vendemini, 18. A timeless photographic series, which sees him as the protagonist of his shots where author and subject coincide. Minkkinen is an acrobat who contorts his naked body immortalizing it in paradoxical positions where his figure blends with the wild and natural landscape, to reaffirm that man is nothing more than an infinitesimal part of a complex ecosystem.
Among the Italian authors, praise goes to Marco Pesaresi who died prematurely 20 years ago. We met his mother Isa. She gave us great emotions and involved in Marco's personal anecdotes that made us passionate about him. Among his main works, the Underground project and "Time for a Journey". On display "The Megastores" at the Chiesa del Suffragio in Corso Vendemini 38, an unpublished reportage made in the nineties where the protagonists are the people who populate the megastores of Minneapolis, Moscow, Taiwan and Paris.
Why are we at the Savignano sul Rubicone Photography Festival? Yuri Catania was selected by the curator Alessandro Curti to participate in a collective exhibition RILEGNO, an exhibition where photography expresses itself in support of the planet. An original and impactful setting, an interesting curation and "Prickly Drink" by Yuri Catania part of the wider project MarfaMarfaMarfa TX 2018, becomes a key piece of the exhibition. The works are for sale on STILL FOTOGRAFIA .
And then, what is magical about this place in Romagna? The atmosphere at the festival is lively, engaging, with several talks, portfolio readings, exhibitions, meetings and events. Because there is music, the shops are open late. A rich program in an exceptional setting. Culinary stop at Trattoria dell'Autista where the traditional cuisine wins you over for its simplicity: tagliatelle with meat sauce, tortelli, cappellacci in broth, amaretto and ricotta cake ... in via Cesare Battisti, 20. Kanye West also stopped here and is immortalized in the Wall of Fame of the famous people who have stopped in the room. But if you can't find a free table, no problem, in Romagna you eat well everywhere and friendliness is the main ingredient.
Also not to be missed is the "Icons of Liscio" exhibition by Paolo Simonazzi in Corso Vendemini, 14, a pop project in an all-Italian version that brings back the posters of the evenings of smooth, traditional folk music from Romagna.
