The Atelier
Yuri Catania's studio occupies an ancient house in the heart of Rovio, at the foot of Monte Generoso, in the Canton Ticino, in Italian-speaking Switzerland. Here, the artist brings his ideas to life, personally executing every stage of his work: from professional photographic printing to painting, from sculpture to frame finishing.
The house and the large garden form a single laboratory, where the mountain view enters through the windows and experimentation knows no boundary between inside and outside.
Within the atelier walls, artworks take shape and are presented for the first time; in the garden, Catania observes, collects, and tests his visions through different languages, in a daily dialogue between art and nature.

Where the atelier meets the garden
At the foot of Monte Generoso, the CasaGalleria.ART garden is the natural extension of the atelier.
Here Yuri Catania paints and shapes his sculptures in the open air, surrounded by the flowers and the mountain that recur in his work. Creation also happens under the open sky, at the very point where art and nature stop being two separate things.

In the atelier, photography becomes the basis for a further language. Yuri Catania intervenes by hand with acrylic and oil, making color blossom on the printed surface until image and pictorial matter merge.
This is the moment when each work moves away from reproduction and becomes unique, bearing the artist's direct mark.
The substance of paper
Paper, from the street to the frame
Paper is the material that runs through all of Yuri Catania's work.
In the atelier courtyard, the artist creates large-format works by hand, composing and gluing printed images as he would on a street wall.
It is the same language of urban art that runs through his research, from installations for exhibitions to collectible works.
